Runway Dev is now on Claude Code, bringing AI video, image and audio to any app you’re building. With the Runway Dev plugin, Claude Code can build Runway’s API into your app. Describe what your app should generate and it writes the integration the way Runway would.

Context

Runway, a generative media company, has released a plugin that equips Anthropic's Claude Code coding to build Runway's API into an app. Runway's launch post says the plugin combines two parts. The Runway Dev server connects the agent to the developer's Runway Dev account, the company's API platform for generating video, images and audio. Runway's skills are written guidance that shows the agent how to use the official SDKs and which Runway Dev tool fits each job.

The account connection lets the agent fit the code to what the developer can actually use. At setup it reads the available projects, the models each project can use with their prices and limits, and the credit balance. While building, it can create a Model Router, which picks a model for each request, or a Character for real-time avatars, and it can start from Runway's ready-made pipelines or from workflows a team has published as API endpoints. When a task fails, it can look up the error details and see why the router chose a particular model. The developer signs in with a Runway Dev account the first time the agent uses it, and Runway says no API key is stored in the plugin.

In Claude Code the plugin installs with `/plugin install runway-api@claude-plugins-official`. Runway's post, dated November 2, launched the plugin for Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex and Cursor together; Runway's post on X about the Claude Code version followed two days later.
