Context
FixrLeak limits AI-generated repairs to Java resource leaks whose cleanup belongs within one function. Uber Engineering first analyzes the code's structure, excluding cases where a resource is passed in, returned or stored for later use. Closing those resources too early could break other code.
For eligible cases, a proposes a repair, followed by build checks, existing tests and developer review. In Uber's test on leaks reported by a code scanner, FixrLeak automated fixes for 93 of 102 eligible leaks. The account attributes the high success rate to this narrow focus on leaks whose resource lifetime can be examined within one function.
