Context
Director turns a description of a web task into browser-automation code. In Browserbase's June 18, 2025 launch account, a user chats with Director, which generates a script using Stagehand, the company's automation framework. That script controls a browser hosted by Browserbase.
The output gives users a repeatable starting point for an automation without first writing the script themselves. The launch positions Director as a way to begin building a workflow, including cases where the generated version will need further development.
“But today we’re introducing Director, which lets anyone automate the web using a natural language prompt.”
“Director is a huge step for Browserbase as we move from being just an infrastructure platform to enabling anybody to automate the web.”
“And then, using AI by chatting with the application, it outputs a Stagehand script that controls the browser.”
“Everyone is a developer in the age of AI. And that means everyone can use Director.”
