Figma's code layers put interactive software on a shared design canvas so teammates can compare working alternatives. Figma's June 24 announcement says they work like the duplicated frames designers already use to try alternatives: prompting a new version leaves the original in place, and teammates can comment on and prompt against the same layer. A selected screen or state can also be converted into editable design layers, and one click updates the code layer with those edits. The proposed workflow lets teams inspect behavior and visual changes together. Figma announced code layers as a closed-beta rollout over the following weeks, rather than establishing general availability.
