Context
Developer banteg reported that the doldecomp team has reached a byte-matching decompilation of Super Smash Bros. Melee's main executable. The project's repository identifies the target as the US 1.02 release and describes the result as a matching decompilation: source code that rebuilds to the original executable. That makes the original executable a concrete reference for checking the reconstruction.
The repository also notes that the rebuilt executable can be shifted to add or remove code, opening a route to modifications and research. Matching the executable is one milestone; making the reconstructed source easier to understand remains ongoing work. The README says most of the team's efforts now go to naming and cleanup.
