The screenshot tool shot-scraper 1.12 adds WebP output with a lossless default. Simon Willison's release post shows a WebP screenshot taken by giving an output filename ending in .webp, while the quality option sets an explicit quality level and omitting it produces a lossless file.

Willison reports that in his experience WebP screenshots are almost always significantly smaller than JPEG or PNG equivalents. He shipped the feature so he could generate the screenshot for his commit-rewriter tool, which is a statement of his own use rather than a measured compression guarantee for every page.
