Runway's Act-One uses an actor's recorded performance to animate a generated character. Its October 2024 introduction describes a single-camera input workflow within Gen-3 Alpha, intended to transfer facial expression and delivery without a separate motion-capture setup or manual facial rig.
That gives creators a performance-based way to direct a character: an actor supplies the timing and expression through filmed acting. Runway also describes building dialogue scenes by having one actor perform different characters and editing the generated shots together. This is a described production workflow, without a measured claim about how much labor it saves.
