Unifying Workers AI and AI Gateway into a single AI control plane

Cloudflare is bringing model hosting and model-request management through a common interface. Workers AI runs models on its infrastructure; AI Gateway records and manages requests to supported providers. In the unification announcement, routing Workers AI calls through a default gateway enables request-and-response logging, usage tracking and cost attribution without first creating a gateway in the dashboard.

The announcement also enables prepaid Gateway credits to pay for Workers AI. That gives teams a shared billing route alongside the request records used to investigate model behavior. Automatic switching between providers of the same model was a planned pilot, while routing that selects a model based on the task was still being tested internally. Those routing plans were separate from the available logging and billing changes.
