1Password is a Toronto-based identity security company founded in 2005 by Dave and Sara Teare and Roustem and Natalia Karimov, operating under the legal name AgileBits Inc. Originally a self-funded password manager, it ran profitably for 14 years before taking its first outside investment (a $200M Series A from Accel) in 2019, later raising further rounds that valued the company at $6.8 billion. It has since expanded from a consumer password manager into a broader identity and access security platform used by more than 100,000 businesses.
