Lambda is an AI infrastructure company founded in 2012 in San Francisco by brothers Stephen and Michael Balaban, selling GPU cloud instances, dedicated clusters and workstations for training and running AI models, and marketing itself as 'the superintelligence cloud.' It serves frontier AI labs, enterprises and hyperscalers, and raised a $1.5 billion Series E in November 2025. In May 2026 the company named Michel Combes — previously chief executive of Sprint, SoftBank International and Alcatel-Lucent — as CEO, with John Donovan as chairman and the Balaban brothers moving into CTO and chief product officer roles.
