OpenBMB (Open Lab for Big Model Base) is an open-source AI research initiative co-founded by Tsinghua University's Natural Language Processing Laboratory (THUNLP) and ModelBest Inc., a Beijing-based commercial spinoff of that lab. The project builds on THUNLP's foundational NLP research and focuses on creating open-weight language models and the systems infrastructure to train and deploy them efficiently, including on resource-constrained edge devices.
