Bolt.new is an AI-powered, browser-based app builder created by StackBlitz, a developer-tools company founded in 2017 by childhood friends Eric Simons and Albert Pai. Built on StackBlitz's WebContainers technology, which runs full-stack Node.js environments client-side, Bolt.new lets users generate, edit, and deploy full-stack web applications from natural-language prompts. Launched in October 2024, it grew to roughly $40 million in annual recurring revenue within about five months, per its founder's own account.
