Convex is a backend-as-a-service platform providing a reactive database, serverless functions, file storage, and real-time sync for TypeScript applications, aiming to replace the typical patchwork of database, API, and caching layers. It was founded in late 2020 by former Dropbox engineers Jamie Turner (CEO), James Cowling (CTO), and Sujay Jayakar, who built large-scale storage and distributed-transaction systems at Dropbox. The San Francisco company raised a $57M Series B led by Insight Partners in August 2026, bringing total funding to roughly $110.5M.
