Career
Konstantopoulos studied electrical and computer engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 2013 to 2018. He moved from security competitions and technical writing into independent cryptocurrency engineering, then became Paradigm’s CTO in 2021 and a general partner in 2024. In 2024 he became CEO of Ithaca. His October 2025 announcement explains that the Ithaca engineering team was joining Tempo, where he would lead engineering while continuing at Paradigm. The current employer biography names him as CTO at both Paradigm and Tempo.[3][4][2]
Contributions
Reth implements the node software that executes and validates Ethereum transactions. Its library-oriented design lets other networks build on those components; the Reth 2.0 release focuses on reducing repeated state calculations and disk reads. Foundry serves the developer writing a smart contract, with tools to compile, test, trace and debug it. Alloy supplies Rust libraries for communicating with Ethereum-compatible networks and encoding contract interactions. Konstantopoulos coauthored the projects’ release reports with their engineering teams. The projects support different stages of the same workflow, from building a contract to operating the network beneath it.[5][6][7]
Ideas
In the Ithaca-to-Tempo announcement, Konstantopoulos explains that Tempo uses Reth as a library rather than maintaining an isolated fork of the entire client. Network-specific changes can remain downstream while the common components continue as neutral tools for multiple Ethereum-compatible chains. The intended feedback loop is practical: production payment workloads expose infrastructure problems, and improvements can flow back to the shared stack. The announcement frames this as continued open-source development alongside the new payments network.[4]
