Tempo is a payments-first Layer 1 blockchain jointly incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, founded and led by Matt Huang, co-founder and managing partner of Paradigm. Designed to give stablecoins the dedicated payment rails that general-purpose blockchains were never built for, Tempo announced in September 2025, launched its mainnet in March 2026, and raised $500 million at a $5 billion valuation from Thrive Capital and Greenoaks.
