Go (often called Golang) is an open-source, statically typed programming language created at Google by Robert Griesemer, Rob Pike, and Ken Thompson, publicly announced in 2009 and reaching version 1.0 in 2012. It was designed to improve productivity for multicore, networked, large-scale software development, combining C-like performance and static typing with Python-like readability and built-in support for concurrency via goroutines and channels. This is the official account for the language, maintained by the Go team at Google.
