Career
Warner worked on product engineering for Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Phone at Canonical, then led engineering at Heroku. He joined GitHub in 2017 and later became its CTO. By his August 2021 interview with Oso he had moved to Redpoint Ventures. Poolside’s research statement dates its founding to April 2023.[4][3][5]
Contributions
Warner’s GitHub work involved the engineering, product and security organization behind a developer platform. At Poolside, he coauthored a research statement proposing compilation, tests and other execution results as learning signals, supplementing examples of completed code with feedback from attempted solutions.[4][5]
Ideas
Poolside proposes coding as a route toward AI capability. That is a research thesis; passing tests does not establish general intelligence.[5]

Read the explanation of code execution as a source of feedback first. Basic familiarity with tests helps; distinguish the proposed training approach from the broader AGI hypothesis.
