Lemon Squeezy is a SaaS payments and billing platform, founded in 2020 by JR Farr and co-founders as a product of their studio Make Lemonade, that acts as merchant of record for software companies — handling subscription billing, global sales tax/VAT compliance, and fraud prevention so SaaS businesses don't have to register as sellers in every jurisdiction. It grew profitably to over $1M in annual recurring revenue within nine months of its 2021 public launch while staying a roughly 13-person team, and in July 2024 it was acquired by Stripe, continuing to operate with its own dashboard and API within Stripe's merchant-of-record offerings.
