NestJS is an open-source, TypeScript-based Node.js framework for building efficient, scalable server-side applications, created by Kamil Myśliwiec and first released in 2017 under the MIT License. Inspired by Angular, it layers a modular, dependency-injection architecture on top of Express (with optional Fastify support) and integrates with tools like GraphQL, TypeORM, and Swagger. It has become one of the most widely adopted Node.js frameworks for enterprise backends, used by companies including Adidas, Autodesk, Mercedes-Benz, GitLab, and IBM.
