PaddlePaddle (飞桨, meaning "flying paddle") is Baidu's open-source deep learning framework — China's first homegrown platform of its kind — developed internally from around 2012 and publicly released in 2016. The name is an acronym for Parallel Distributed Deep Learning, reflecting its design for large-scale, multi-GPU training and cross-platform industrial deployment as a production-grade alternative to TensorFlow and PyTorch.
