Semaphore is a cloud-native CI/CD platform built by Rendered Text, a bootstrapped software company founded in 2009 by university friends Darko Fabijan and Marko Anastasov; the Semaphore product launched in 2012. It grew into one of the industry's established continuous integration and delivery services, used by teams in over 100 countries including startups and Fortune 500 companies, while remaining self-funded with no outside investment. In February 2025, Semaphore open-sourced its core platform under the Apache 2.0 license, alongside its existing managed cloud and enterprise offerings.
