The Solana Foundation is a Swiss non-profit established in April 2020 when Solana Labs transferred its protocol intellectual property and 167 million SOL tokens to an independent steward. Its mandate is to drive the decentralization, security, and censorship-resistance of the Solana network through grants to open-source projects, a validator delegation program that supports smaller node operators, and stewardship of core protocol development.
