Topoteretes UG, operating as Cognee, is a Berlin-based AI infrastructure startup founded in 2024 by Vasilije Markovic and Boris Arzentar, with offices in Berlin's Kreuzberg district and San Francisco. It builds memory infrastructure for AI agents, having emerged from an open-source project that has drawn a large global developer community. In February 2026 the company raised a €7.5 million seed round led by Redalpine and 7percent Ventures to scale its enterprise-grade memory technology, and it operates on an open-core model pairing a free open-source framework with paid managed-cloud and enterprise licensing.
