Trigger.dev is a UK-based startup that builds an open-source developer platform for running long-running background jobs and AI agent workflows in TypeScript, handling retries, queues, scheduling, and observability so teams do not have to manage that infrastructure themselves. Founded in 2022 by Eric Allam, Matt Aitken, Daniel Patel, and James Ritchie, who previously built the open-source JSON Hero viewer, the company went through Y Combinator's W23 batch. It has raised roughly $19M in disclosed funding, including a $3M seed round in 2023 and a $16M Series A led by Standard Capital.
