Deep Research And Many New Models

OpenRouter added Perplexity's Sonar Deep Research to its model catalog. In OpenRouter's announcement, the model is described as built for comprehensive research: it automates in-depth searches, evaluates sources iteratively, and synthesizes a structured analysis. An application can ask for an investigation of a topic and have the intermediate searching handled by the model service, through OpenRouter's chatroom or API.

The announcement also says pricing for the Sonar models includes additional charges based on Perplexity's internal search and reasoning steps. The cost of a request therefore reflects the work done behind the scenes as well as the visible answer. The announcement points to a separate pricing page and states no prices itself.
