About
jscpd is a copy/paste detector that finds duplicated code across more than 220 programming languages using a Rust-based detection engine. Starting from version 5.2 it can identify type-2 and type-3 clones, meaning code with renamed variables or a few inserted or removed lines, and it outputs SARIF, HTML, or badge reports plus a GitHub Action and an MCP server for AI agents.
Why it made the leaderboard
It gives coding agents and CI pipelines a way to catch near-duplicate code (not just exact copies), and its MCP server lets AI agents query it directly during development.
