You can now create new web apps with Cursor, store the code with Origin, and deploy to Vercel.
Context
Cursor removed the requirement to have a repository somewhere else before its cloud coding agents can start a new project. The announcement describes creating a web app in Cursor, storing the code in Origin and deploying it to Vercel. Cursor's changelog entry explains the change: Cloud Agents no longer need a connected GitHub or other third-party source-control provider to get started. A user picks Start from scratch in the repository picker and writes a prompt, and Cursor creates an Origin repository in the background. When the build is ready, the user names the repository and makes it private or internal.
Origin is Cursor's own code hosting, which it introduced as an early beta for paid plans. For a repository hosted on Origin, Origin holds the authoritative copy and GitHub is not involved in pushes. That is why a project can now begin without GitHub. The same entry says that once Vercel is connected from a repository's Apps tab, every pull request gets a preview deployment and a merge ships the change to production. The Start from scratch entry adds that publishing requires a connected Vercel account, which gives the app a live URL. Vercel's side of this integration, announced as a public beta on August 17, ten days earlier, and covered in this Intel item, works the same way from Vercel's settings.
