AX lets developers declare agentic tasks in YAML and run them as sandboxed, isolated workloads with CPU/memory limits, automatic workspace setup (Git repos, MCP servers, skills), and network allowlisting. It runs on Agent Substrate, a compute runtime built for dense, stateful actor lifecycles, allowing billions of concurrent tasks per cluster with sub-second suspend and resume.
Why it made the leaderboard
It gives teams running many agents at once a purpose-built orchestration primitive (sandboxing, sub-second suspend/resume, network allowlisting) instead of forcing agent workloads into microservice or batch-job tooling not designed for them.
