Context
NVIDIA's ModelExpress reduces repeated model loading by checking whether a compatible copy already exists elsewhere in a serving cluster. If another worker holds the weights in GPU memory, the new worker can receive them directly over the network instead of downloading and preparing another copy from storage. The first worker still needs a storage-based loading path. The publisher explains this mechanism.
The same reuse principle extends to compiled kernel caches, which contain work performed while preparing a model to run. Compatible replicas can inherit those artifacts instead of repeating compilation. The benefit is less duplicated preparation when adding serving capacity; reuse depends on matching model, software and hardware requirements. The article describes those compatibility checks.
