Context
OpenRouter, a service connecting developers to multiple AI models through one interface, announced on August 19 that it would join Stripe. Its full announcement said the transaction was subject to customary closing conditions. That establishes a planned acquisition, without establishing that closing had occurred.
For existing customers, the company's stated commitment was continuity: the same name, product and roadmap, with nothing about their integration changing. It cited Stripe's infrastructure experience, customer network and fraud-management ability as reasons for the deal. Those are the expected advantages of the combination as the company describes them; the immediate product commitment was to preserve the existing multi-model service.
