How v0 authenticates to Snowflake without exposing the user's OAuth token

Context
Vercel's v0 integration keeps a user's reusable Snowflake OAuth credential outside the environment running generated code. Requests pass through a proxy that identifies the connected user and inserts the credential into designated authentication fields. The code receives a harmless placeholder instead. Vercel's implementation account explains why isolation alone cannot protect a secret that the code can read.
The proxy must avoid replacing that placeholder everywhere: a query could otherwise cause the real credential to return as query output. Field-specific insertion prevents that described leak. Snowflake-issued session credentials still enter the after login, so the boundary specifically protects the reusable OAuth credential. The article makes this distinction explicit.
- sandbox — An isolated environment where AI-generated code or agent actions run without being able to touch anything real.
- token — The chunk of text a model reads and writes in — roughly three-quarters of a word — and the unit AI usage is billed in.
- prompt injection — An attack that hides instructions in content an AI will read — a webpage, email, or document — tricking it into following the attacker instead of the user.
