OpenAI said in its August 6 announcement that GPT-5.6 Sol now powers both the quick Instant responses and the deeper reasoning in ChatGPT for Plus and Pro users. A fast answer and a slower, more thorough one therefore come from the same model instead of two models with different behavior. The post also said Free and Go users get unlimited text chats with GPT-5.6 Luna, and OpenAI's article adds that this is subject to abuse and that limits still apply to file uploads, images and other tools.
