Context
Moonshot AI has relaunched Kimi WebBridge as the Kimi Browser Extension, and the new version can turn a repeated web task into a reusable . In the announcement, Kimi says users can chat with it from the browser sidebar to navigate sites and fill out forms. For repetitive work, they can record the steps once and save them as a skill that Kimi runs the next time. The product page lists the additions as a sidebar entry point, recording of web actions, and breaking web pages down into commands.
The product page also explains how it works. A local service runs alongside the extension. An , such as Kimi Desktop or another agent, sends commands to that service, which uses the Chrome DevTools Protocol, Chrome's built-in interface for controlling the browser, to navigate, click, take screenshots and read pages in the user's existing Chrome or Edge browser, then sends the results back. Because it uses that existing browser, the agent works inside sites where the user is already logged in. Kimi says everything runs locally, so login sessions and page content never leave the device. That is the company's statement, not an independent audit, and the page notes that the sidebar requires signing in to a Kimi account.
The product page does not explain how recorded skills are stored or replayed, or how well they hold up when a site changes. The demo video could not be transcribed, and any later posts in the thread were not collected.
- agent skill — A reusable instruction file that teaches an agent how to do one job well — the procedure, the tools, and what counts as done.
- AI agent — An AI system that doesn't just answer once but works toward a goal in a loop — taking actions, reading the results, and deciding what to do next.
