Context
Moonshot AI's Kimi_Moonshot account announced Remote Control for Kimi Work, its desktop app, which lets someone leave a task running on their computer and keep steering it from a phone. The post itself says little beyond that. Kimi's own Chinese-language guide explains the reason for the feature: long jobs such as deep research or video editing can run for hours on the computer, but they often pause partway because the agent needs a new instruction or a permission, which until now meant the person had to be back at the desk.
According to that guide, the work never moves to the phone. The task keeps running locally on the computer, and files, credentials and environment settings stay there, while the Kimi phone app serves as a remote window onto the session. From the phone a person can start tasks, watch progress as it syncs, including which step is running and which tools are being called, and send messages mid-task. When Kimi needs confirmation for an action such as sending an email or reading files, the approval request goes to both the computer and the phone, so the task need not stall waiting for someone to come back.
The guide lists a few practical conditions. The computer has to stay powered on and online. The phone app must be version 3.1.0 or later on Android or iOS and signed in to the same account. The connection is switched on from Remote Control in Kimi Work's sidebar and approved on the computer. One phone can be connected to several computers and switch between them.
