Context
Sakana AI announced on June 24, 2026 that Fugu-Ultra was available on OpenRouter, a service that lets developers call many models through one interface. The announcement links to a model page on that service.
What sits behind that page is described in Sakana's earlier launch thread. Fugu-Ultra is the higher-quality variant of Fugu, a trained to call other models in a pool, including instances of itself, so one developer request is divided and combined internally. The OpenRouter post itself announces availability only and gives no new performance or pricing details.
