Context

Browserbase, which hosts browsers for automation, changed its free offering from a one-time trial into a recurring allowance. Its February 25, 2025 announcement replaced ten trial sessions with 60 browser minutes each month, a 15-minute limit per session, and seven-day session-data retention. That gave developers a renewable budget for testing small automations. Usage was measured by how long the browser ran, so the number of tasks that fit depended on each task's duration. These were the terms of that historical launch.

Key quotes

“We’ve designed our free plan to give you a better experience with our platform, more time to understand our value proposition, and a place for your personal projects.”

“It’s important to us that the free plan is generous enough to power your personal projects, while also balancing the real cost of providing the browser infrastructure behind it.”

“We built a script that looks up a recipe and orders the ingredients, and it only takes about 10 browser minutes.”
