Expanding Access To Claude For Government

Anthropic's June 2024 government announcement combined new access channels with specific contractual permissions. Claude 3 Haiku and Sonnet became available through Amazon's AWS GovCloud and the AWS Marketplace for the US Intelligence Community.

The company also described exceptions allowing selected government agencies to use Claude for legally authorized foreign intelligence analysis. It said other restrictions, including those concerning weapons, disinformation and malicious cyber operations, remained. At that time the policy applied only to models at its AI Safety Level 2 under its Responsible Scaling Policy. The announcement therefore expanded both where agencies could obtain the models and which selected uses their agreements permitted.
