Excited to partner with @cline to bring Step 3.7 Flash to more coding agent builders. Step 3.7 Flash is now free in Cline for the next month — capable, fast, and reliable for agentic coding workflows. Try it in Cline: /model → Step 3.7 Flash Big thanks to the Cline team. https://t.co/JdmMvZNExm
Context
Per StepFun's post, Step 3.7 Flash is free to use inside Cline, the open coding agent, for a month, selectable through Cline's model menu.
StepFun's own launch details describe Step 3.7 Flash as a 198-billion-parameter sparse model with about 11 billion active parameters per token, a 256K-token , and under the Apache 2.0 license, positioned around agent efficiency rather than peak single-turn reasoning (launch details). This Cline promotion is part of a pattern: StepFun separately made the same model free inside the Kilo coding agent (Kilo offer) and published a guide for self-hosting it on Modal (Modal guide).
- mixture-of-experts — A model built from many specialist sub-networks where only a few activate per token, giving big-model capability at small-model running cost.
- context window — The maximum amount of text a model can consider at once — its working memory for the current conversation or task.
- open weights — A model whose trained parameters are published for anyone to download and run — unlike API-only models you can access but never possess.
- SWE-bench — The standard benchmark for AI coding agents: real GitHub issues from real repositories, scored by whether the agent's patch passes the project's own tests.
