Voyage embedding and reranking gain European data residency in Atlas

Today, we're excited to announce the public preview of data residency in Europe for the Atlas Embedding and Reranking API Service (ERAS). Context
Using Voyage AI's and models, which turn text into numbers for search and then reorder search results by relevance, with European data residency means choosing where those requests are processed. MongoDB's announcement describes geography-scoped access credentials and endpoints for its Atlas embedding and reranking service. For scoped requests, and retained request payloads stay within the chosen geography, and the service is designed to fail rather than fall back to another location if that geography cannot serve the request.
The Europe geography initially covers cloud regions within the European Economic Area. It does not promise a particular country or a single cloud region, and MongoDB describes it as a processing boundary separate from data retention, so it does not mean that nothing is retained. - embedding — A list of numbers representing a piece of text's meaning, so that similar meanings end up numerically close and can be searched.
- reranking — A second pass that re-scores retrieved candidates by reading each one against the query, fixing the ordering that fast vector search got approximately right.
- inference — Running a trained model to get answers — the phase where AI is actually used, as opposed to trained.
