Context
Black Forest Labs' FLUX Video Upscale takes an existing clip and regenerates it at a higher resolution, up to 4K. The August 20 announcement describes a standalone tool that accepts other videos as well as FLUX output, extending the workflow introduced with FLUX 3 Video.
Its two modes make the editing tradeoff explicit. Precise prioritizes retaining identity and reference details. Creative spends more processing steps on repair and generated detail, but the company says it can change or replace identity. Choosing a mode therefore affects how faithfully the higher-resolution result follows the original subject.
