Anthropic Acquires Bun As Claude Code Reaches Usd1b Milestone

Anthropic described its December 2025 acquisition of Bun as an investment in Claude Code's underlying developer infrastructure. Bun combines software execution, package management, bundling and testing in one JavaScript and TypeScript toolkit. The companies had already collaborated on Claude Code's native installer, giving the acquisition a concrete connection to how the coding tool reaches users. Anthropic said it would continue investing in Bun for the wider developer community and retain its open-source MIT licensing; faster performance and additional Claude Code capabilities were stated aims.
