Modal (Modal Labs, Inc.) is an American cloud computing company founded in 2021 by Erik Bernhardsson (formerly of Spotify and Better.com) and Akshat Bubna. It operates a serverless infrastructure platform built for AI, machine learning, and data-processing workloads, letting Python developers deploy and scale compute — including GPU-backed inference, training, and batch jobs — without managing servers or container orchestration directly. The company has raised significant venture funding, including a 2026 round that valued it at $4.65 billion.
