Sanity.io is a headless content platform, originally built by an Oslo, Norway design agency to manage content for architecture firm OMA (co-founded by Rem Koolhaas), then spun out in 2016 as an independent company by Even Westvang, Magnus Hillestad, Oyvind Rostad, and Simen Svale Skogsrud. It treats content as structured data that can be modeled as code and reused across websites, apps, and other channels rather than tied to a rigid CMS. The company operates out of Oslo and the San Francisco Bay Area and serves customers including Condé Nast, Nike, Figma, and Brex; its GitHub org hosts Sanity Studio, the open-source workspace for configuring these content backends.
