Telegram Desktop is the official open-source desktop development arm of Telegram, the cloud-based messaging platform founded in 2013 by brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov — who previously co-built VK, Russia's largest social network, before departing under government pressure. The team maintains GPL-licensed Qt clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with reproducible builds so anyone can independently verify that distributed binaries match the published source code.
