Layered is an open-source prototype for writing and reading text with depth instead of the flat structure inherited from paper. Any sentence can be expanded into a full page of its own, and sentences within that page can nest further to any depth, so readers can skim a surface layer and zoom into detail only where they care to. The interface splits an editor pane, where writers select text and add nested depth, from a reader pane where readers pinch sentences open or closed.
Why it made the leaderboard
Offers a new way to read and write long-form text where readers control their own depth of detail instead of scrolling through a single flat document.
