Computer swaps its subagent and automation defaults to GPT 5.6

GPT 5.6 Terra and Luna are now live in Perplexity Computer. Terra is the new default model for all Computer subagents, while Luna will serve as the primary model for scheduled automations. Terra is also available as an orchestrator model in Computer.
Terra is built for complex goal-oriented work, making it an ideal subagent. On WANDR, Terra scores 11 points above Sonnet while delivering order-of-magnitude cost reductions. Luna handles recurring workflows where speed and cost matter.
Context
Perplexity assigned different GPT 5.6 models to different jobs inside Computer. In its August 6 update, Terra became the default for subagents, which handle delegated portions of a task, while Luna became the primary model for scheduled automations. Terra also became an option for the orchestrator that coordinates the work. The change separates model choice for delegated execution from model choice for recurring workflows, rather than assigning one default to every role. The announcement specifies those assignments.
