Context
Runway's Aleph 2.0 can adapt existing footage to a different aspect ratio by generating additional scene content. According to the announcement, users upload a video and choose the desired frame shape in the desktop web app.
The model fills the space needed for that format, extending what appears around the existing scene. This offers a way to reuse a clip in different layouts. The added surroundings are generated material, so the operation changes the depicted scene as well as its dimensions.
