Context

Runway's Ruby converts existing standard-dynamic-range video into high-dynamic-range output, expanding its brightness and color range. Its August 21, 2026 announcement covered uploaded or generated clips up to 30 seconds, making conversion a step that could follow video creation.

The phrase “up to 16-bit” depends on the export format. Runway's Academy tutorial lists 16-bit EXR sequences alongside 10-bit and 12-bit ProRes and HEVC files, so the bit depth a user receives depends on which output they select. Runway's help article is the place to check the specification of each individual format.
