Context
OpenAI's June 22, 2026 security release paired an updated GPT-5.5-Cyber with tools aimed at fixing vulnerabilities rather than only finding them. The announcement says access to the model remained limited to vetted defenders.
OpenAI reports an 85.6% CyberGym score for the updated model. That measures reproduction of known vulnerabilities, so it is not a patch-success rate. The accompanying Codex Security workflow and Patch the Planet initiative are meant to address the additional work of validation, repair and collaboration with open-source maintainers. The release pairs an updated security model with processes intended to get fixes into software.
