Context
An accelerator's estimated manufacturing cost is not its full commercial cost. Epoch AI's bill-of-materials model puts the cost of producing NVIDIA's B200 at $5,700 to $7,300, with high-bandwidth memory and advanced packaging making up roughly two-thirds. It also counts the memory and chips lost when a package fails testing. Source.
The estimate leaves out research and development and the rest of a complete server system. Comparing it with reported selling prices therefore gives a chip-level margin, not NVIDIA's realized or company-wide profit, since most Blackwell revenue comes from servers that may carry lower margins. It is most useful for understanding which physical inputs and production yields drive the cost of making the chip.
